This format is a new addition for Moonspun Wool: a monthly class that builds skills as it progresses, with each new stitch becoming part of a greater (and warmer) whole. Over the course of nine class sessions, we will combine knit and purl stitches to create nine unique blocks of knit-work that will ultimately come together as elements of an heirloom-quality throw blanket measuring approximately 39" x 39".
This class is excellent for the beginner knitter who wants to hone their knitting techniques and expand their stitch repertoire. The monthly in-person class time offers students an opportunity for hands-on learning and skill-building, plenty of time to ask questions and get one-on-one help, and of course fun and fellowship with classmates. The monthly meeting time would also be perfect for knitting friends who want to work on a structured project together.
This class will meet for nine sessions on the third Tuesday of each month from 6pm-8pm:
2025 Sessions: 9/16, 10/21, 11/18, 12/16
2026 Sessions: 1/20, 2/17, 3/17, 4/21, 5/19
There will also be a video support option available for each block if students miss in-person classes, or need extra instruction.
Instructor: Terri Bocklund (@stickaflicka)
Prerequisites: The class is intended for a proficient beginner who can knit, purl, cast on and bind off.
Class materials to bring:
- ESG Throw pattern by Judith Shangold (available on Ravelry)
- Nine 100 gram skeins of worsted or aran weight yarn--one for each block. It is recommended that students stay in one brand/base so that gauge will remain consistent and blocks will fit together uniformly.

- Size H crochet hook (for fringe)
- Removable stitch markers
- Darning needle
Skills You Will Learn:
Students will learn the following stitches: Moss, Double Moss, Beaded Rib, Garter Rib, Basket, Basketweave, and Mistake Ribbing. Students will also learn cable techniques including the Staghorn Cable and Horseshoe Cable.
Refund and Cancellation Policy: There are no class refunds. If you need to cancel, we are happy to extend your payment to the next available class, or offer in-store credit. Video support will be available for each session if students miss an in-person class. Payments will be refunded if class minimum participation is not met.
